Ian Rapaport “Answering one part of a looming question for the #Seahawks: S Kam Chancellor (neck) does intend to play in 2018 if he gets medically cleared, I’m told. No plans to retire (despite some murky social media posts). His $6.8M for 2018 was fully guaranteed on 2/9” From Twitter
The Seahawks are in a bit of a calm before the storm that is free agency and the NFL draft. Still, a bit of interesting news emanates every day about something. On Tuesday, a bit about Kam Chancellor and it is good news. Maybe.
Kam Chancellor intends to play if…
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, if Chancellor is medically cleared, he intends to play for Seattle. Of course, that is a big “if” since Chancellor suffered a potentially life-altering neck injury last year.
I say this not to sound grim, but because any neck injury in the NFL is potentially very bad.
Chancellor, of course, is owed quite a bit of money through 2019 – $12 million – and those dollars are guaranteed injury or no. It would be surprising to see him simply retire and walk away from that much money. What person would?
But if Chancellor does play and is his usual self on the field and is not putting himself in peril, this is a good thing for Seattle. Chancellor is a leader in the locker room and sets a physical tone on the field. 12thManRising
