Mr. Clutch Russell Wilson Voted Clutch Performer Of The Week
Given the awards Russell Wilson has already locked up this week, today’s news shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, but the Seahawks quarterback has now secured a hat trick of weekly honors, claiming Clutch Performer of the Week Friday afternoon by way of fan vote at NFL.com.
Wilson led the Seahawks to a thrilling 41-38 victory over the Houston Texans last Sunday at CenturyLink Field, passing for a franchise-record 452 yards, tossing four touchdowns, and posting a 123.2 quarterback rating. His final scoring strike of the day went to tight end Jimmy Graham, a touchdown that put Seattle ahead for good with less than 30 seconds to play. The come-from-behind effort marked the 23rd time, postseason included, where Wilson has led the Seahawks on a game-winning drive with Seattle tied or trailing in the fourth quarter or overtime, the most in the NFL since 2012, Wilson’s rookie season.
To win Clutch Performer of the Week, Wilson topped Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson, who had a stellar outing of his own at CenturyLink Field last week, as well as Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy, and Atlanta Falcons wideout Mohamed Sanu.
