Pete Carroll noted during the first offseason workouts that Jimmy is looking better than ever.
He’s been wowed through the first two weeks of offseason conditioning drills by Jimmy Graham. The star tight end is 18 months removed from an injured patellar tendon in his knee in surgery.
“I was surprised to see how quick and explosive Jimmy looks. He looks the best he has ever looked,” Carroll said. “Looks trimmer than he has ever looked — but he’s just as heavy, or heavier.’’ Pete Carroll (News Tribune)
A LOOK BACK TO LAST YEAR:
Analysts speculated he would be put on the PUP list and not activated till after week 6. Jimmy’s patella injury he suffered late 2015 season is the worst of any injury to come back from. Jimmy remembers looking down at his knee and not having a knee cap. The fact he played any time in the opener last year is a testament to his work ethic and time he spent rehabbing on a daily basis.
Victor Cruz of the NY Giants had nearly a 2 year layoff recovering from this injury. In a interview last year Cruz said of Jimmy Graham that it’ll take at least a year to somewhat recover from this injury. Graham has proven many wrong by making it back for that first Sunday but it didn’t end the rehab process. He progressed game by game throughout the whole year.
“I thought Jimmy had a terrific year. He was explosive. He was dynamic. He blocked like he’s never blocked before. He became a factor on the perimeter blocking stuff and he’s a highlight film. He’s got so many big plays that he made during the year” Pete Carroll after last season
Now, Jimmy Graham has focused his time and effort on being as explosive as ever before and getting that quickness he lacked last year. Carroll saw that and He will be a valuable asset come the start of the Seahawks 2017 season. A scary thought for opposing defenses.
